about
This is Tree Danko's first official release with HappyFish Records & Studio 3. Released & distributed in August 2020, 'NeverMore' was written in conjunction with and inspired by Sister May Funderburk, who passed in early April 2020 before the recording of this track.
This is an homage to all the lost boys and girls; the missing, the taken and the runaways; the dead and the gone.
"Love to my Sister May and her belief in me. She always inspired me to keep going and to love myself. Her soul was too big for her body, her smile was so bright it drown out the sun. Her love for reggae music, for me as her brother and for life in general inspired my journey to creating my own record label and recording studio in order to help full fill the dreams of other artists and talents in my community, before time runs out." - Tree Danko
lyrics
What do we got
When loved ones are lost
I've got love for the lost boys and girls
Of Hawai'i
On the Isle of NeverMore
No-one owns the seashore
Missing, missing, missing
I've got love for the lost boys and girls
Of Hawai'i
In a land NeverMore
Left alone to explore
Lucky (I'm So Lucky)
That We
Live
Hawai'i
Lucky (I'm So Lucky)
You and Me
Live
Hawai'i and Free
I'll just keep on playing banjo
For the empty, lonely, Punaverse
I'm so lonely, I'm so lonely
I think I could go home
To be by, only, to be
Needed by myself
And I'm so lovely
Someday baby I could learn to synthesize love (DMT)
From the grasses and the branches (DMT)
And the stems and the roots and the leaves (DMT)
And the bark of the Acacia Trees (DMT)
Bamboo Shoots and
Automatic (How lovely)
I could learn to be loved and accepted by
Myself again (It's all G) Until then
It's all G, It's Good
It's good oh, to know that you
(No you!) are also love though
It's Good. It's all G
Yeah, It's all G
Yeah
My Banjolene told me
She said 'c'mon boy please hold me'
You've gotta learn
To love and accept yourself
And my Dark Horse he warned me
He said watch your back man
And don't leave my dead ass
On the shelf - You Ungratefully Dead Ass
And Thirteen she's lonely
Lomi-Lomi sitting broken down
And lonely in my abandon
House again, oh yeah
And what have you got
I've got love for the lost boys and girls
Of Hawai'i
